Import the Parent Theme's Customizer Settings into your Child Theme

If you made any changes to the settings in the Customizer (Appearance > Customize) with OceanWP and you want to use a child theme, you will lose all your changes because WordPress sees your child theme as a new theme.

But don't worry, you can easily export and import the Customizer styling settings for your OceanWP theme to the child theme and vice versa. Follow these 4 simple steps to export/import your Customizer style settings.

OceanWP Customizer Styling Import and Export

1
Go to your WP Dashboard,   Appearance > Themes and activate the parent theme (OceanWP).
2
Go to OceanWP > OceanWP Panel > Customizer > Customizer Styling Import & Export (old settings: Theme Panel > Import/Export) and click the Export button. This action will export all Customizer settings in a form of a .dat file and download to you PC.
3
Go to Appearance > Themes and activate your OceanWP child theme.
4
Go back to OceanWP > OceanWP Panel > Customizer > Customizer Styling Import & Export (old settings: Theme Panel > Import/Export) and Import the .dat file exported in step 2.

That's it!
