Elementor Widgets Don't Function With All Post Types

Some Elementor widgets (referring to all Elementor widgets all over the world, not just those from the Ocean Elementor Widgets pack) are dependent upon specific post types (example, pages, blog posts, products, etc).

For some Elementor widgets, you can spice up the content and have additional options available for specific post types.

Elementor Post Type Controls Display All Available Post Types

The problem is, Elementor will always display all post types you have available on your website. These post types are created automatically and depend on the plugins you are running on your website.

One of the example where the post types are used as the source is the Ajax Search widget, part of the Ocean Elementor Widgets pack.

The other example of making use of post types is the Blog Grid widget, also a part of Ocean Elementor Widgets pack.

However, that doesn't mean that the widget itself is compatible with all posts types or that it can function and be customized with all post types.

Widgets Will Not Function With All Post Types

Some Elementor widgets will not function properly or won't function at all with specific post types. Again, even though these post types are listed, we now know that the settings control is pulling information of all post types available on our website.

For example, the Blog Grid widget will display all of the available post types from our screenshot (posts, pages, landing pages and products) in a grid.

On the other hand, the Ajax Search widget will not function only with products if products is selected for the post type.

That being said, even if you select products as the source, since the widget itself was not built to support products and searches potentially related to it (like search by SKU), while typing your query it will also display results from other post types.

So, if you're an eCommerce website owner and looking for an Ajax Product Search widget, we highly recommend checking out Ocean eComm Treasure Box premium plugin which will enable you to build a custom online shop and comes with nifty little widgets and tools you can use.

Likewise, it's important to us for you to know that not being able to make a specific Elementor widget work with one if the post types is not you failing or doing things wrong. On the contrary. It's simply a slight downside of the tool so just keep rocking and stay awesome.
