Performance - Customizer

Default theme settings may differ if you have imported one of the OceanWP prebuilt website templates for WordPress. This is because these templates come with their own Customizer settings. However, the way you use the Customizer to adjust your website remains the same.

The OceanWP Customizer Performance panel enables you to control some of the WordPress and OceanWP scripts and files to enhance your website's performance.

Available Performance options include:

Styling Options Location

The Styling Options Location enables you to choose the place from which all your custom CSS (from the Custom CSS panel in the Customizer) will be served:

  • WP Head (default): custom style placed before the head closing tag ( </head> ),
  • Custom File: all custom CSS is placed into a dedicated file which is then created in your WP installation uploads folder, and served from there.

Emoji

This file contains all the CSS rules that define the appearance and behavior of WP emoji.

For example, when enabled, this script will display " :) " as ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a default WordPress script.

This feature is related to the Customizer > Site Style & Settings > Site Icons option. If Font Awesome Icons is not your selection, you can disable this option in Performance.

In combination with the free Ocean Extra plugin, your OceanWP theme bundles a lot of custom WordPress widgets that do not exist in WordPress by default, but also applies special styling and extends some of the default WordPress widgets, default WooCommerce widgets, etc.

OceanWP custom widgets for WordPress include:

  • ยป About Me,

This feature controls only the Smooth Scroll script that comes included with your OceanWP theme. Other plugins may still load their own scroll scripts and other similar libraries.

Scroll Effect - Custom Offset

This option is directly related to the Scroll Effect feature. You can add a custom offset value, which determines the space between your website's header and the anchor link point.
