Footer Widgets - Customizer

Default theme settings may differ if you have imported one of the OceanWP prebuilt website templates for WordPress. This is because these templates come with their own Customizer settings. However, the way you use the Customizer to adjust your website remains the same.

The OceanWP Customizer Footer Widgets panel enables you to enable, style and personalize the footer widgets area of your website, and its widgets. Custom template is also supported.

Available Footer Widgets options include:

The Enable Footer Widgets option enables you to choose whether or not to display the Footer Widgets element on your website.

Toggle the button to enable or disable the display of the Footer Widgets element.

Visibility

The Visibility option enables you to choose responsive display settings for the Footer Widgets element:

  • Show on All Devices: display on desktop, tablet and mobile.
  • Hide on Tablet: display on desktop and mobile, but hide on tablet.
  • Hide on Mobile: display on desktop and tablet, but hide on mobile.
  • Hide on Tablet and Mobile: display on desktop only.

Enable Container

The Enable Container option enables you to display the Footer Widgets content from edge to edge of the screen.

By default, this option is enabled, and the Footer Widgets content width equals your website's main container width applied in Customize > Site Style & Settings > Content Settings > Main Container Width.

Toggle the button to enable or disable the display of the Footer Widgets content from edge to edge.

You can turn off the Enable Container option when using a custom template for the Footer Widgets area. In this way, you will have more control over the appearance without the need to adjust the background color and other options in the Customizer.

Padding (px)

The Padding (px) option enables you to add padding (spacing) to the Footer Widgets website element.

This option is always measured in pixels (px).

Heading Tag

The Heading Tag enables you to assign the correct H tag to the title of WordPress widgets (WP Dashboard, Appearance > Widgets) used in the Footer Widgets area: H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, div, span, p.

This option will only function with Classic Widgets.

If you're using the Block Widgets editor to add and manipulate widgets, or if you're using a custom template, you need to manually adjust the heading tag via available block or other element settings.

The Footer Columns option enables you to assign the maximum number of columns you want to use within the Footer Widgets area.

You can find the available footer columns via WP Dashboard, Appearance > Widgets.

All columns have their own respective names and you can add different widgets to each of them: Footer 1, Footer 2, Footer 3, Footer 4.

This option will not function if you're using a custom template to replace the default Footer Widgets area. If you're using a custom template, you need to manually add columns and content respectively.

Select Template

The Select Template option enables you to choose a custom template created via WP Dashboard, OceanWP > My Library, and use it to replace the Footer Widgets content area.

When using a custom template for Footer Widgets, all options added via Appearance > Widgets (Footer 1, Footer 2, Footer 3, Footer 4) are irrelevant because you're adding content to the template directly.

When it comes to custom templates (WP Dashboard, OceanWP > My Library), make sure each of the templates made is used once in the Customizer.

To deselect any custom template in the Customizer, simply choose the "Select" option.

The Fixed Footer option enables you to add height to the content area automatically, which will then "push" the footer to the bottom of the page.

This option is recommended only if you have very little content (for example, a sentence or two) on your pages to display.

By default, this option is disabled.

The Footer Parallax option enables you to add a scrolling animation effect, in which case the footer area gets revealed on scrolling giving out the impression that area was hidden behind the main website page content.

By default, this option is disabled.

The FW Widget Heading typography option enables you to adjust typography settings for default WordPress widgets used in the Footer Widgets area.

FW Background

The FW Background color option enables you to apply a background color to the Footer Widgets area.

FW Borders

The FW Borders color option enables you to apply a color to the borders that appear next to the headings for Footer Widgets.

FW Widget Heading

The FW Widget Heading color option enables you to apply a color to widget headings.

FW Widget Text

The FW WidgetText color option enables you to apply a color to all textual (non-heading and non-link) content parts of widgets used inside the Footer Widgets area.

The FW Widget Links color option enables you to apply a color to all link content parts of widgets used inside the Footer Widgets area.
